All Support Staff (full-time, part-time, student and casual labour) are part of OPSEU Local 421.  While staff are covered by the collective agreements, and dues are taken, you are not an active member until you SIGN your membership card.  By signing your membership card, you become eligible for the benefits under OPSEU like:

• Makes you a member in ‘Good Standing’ and entitles you to OPSEU and Local 421 support, including strike pay, hardship funds, and expenses paid for attending events (conferences, conventions, and educational programs).

• Makes you eligible to vote on proposals and in General Membership Meetings (GMM) elections.

• Increases the amount of funding our Local receives to support operations and events.

• Access to OPSEU’s member discounts & scholarships.

OPSEU membership is not AUTOMATIC. 

 

Complete the 5 easy steps below to get started. Be sure to use a personal/non-work email. In the event of a labour strike, meetings, and member voting, OPSEU and Local 421 will ONLY communicate via personal/non-work email.

 

Steps to becoming a Local 421 Member:

1. Sign your Membership Card. This will give you access to the OPSEU Member Portal and a membership card (with membership number) by mail in 4-6 weeks.

2. Then set up the OPSEU Member Portal Account.  

3. Review the New Staff Orientation and our other Training. (TBA)

4. Review the Resources & FAQ for Full-Time or Part-Time Support Staff.

5. ​Review the Events and learn who your Local Executives are on this website.
